BOTOX

What is botox?

Botulinum Toxin (such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin), is a “neurotoxin” derived from Clostridium botulinum, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic.

How Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Make You Look Younger?

Various brands of neuromodulators are well-known for their ability to smooth wrinkles and suspend future aging, making it the most highly sought-after cosmetic treatment for a younger-looking, well-rested appearance.

Neuromodulator injections prevent nerves from moving certain muscles in your face. The “inactivation” of the muscles prevents them from pulling your skin, resulting in smoothing out existing and preventing new lines from forming.

Muscle relaxing injectables can also treat various conditions such as eye twitching, chronic migraines, excessive sweating, and urinary incontinence.

What to Expect?

Perhaps more than anything, first time patients are worried about discomfort during the treatment. The good news is that Botox injections are relatively painless. While the procedure does require the use of a needle, the needle is small enough that it causes minimal discomfort. If you have had your ears pierced, you should be more than prepared to get Botox injections.  You will be able to return to your normal activities immediately following your treatment.

With any injection, there is always a chance of redness, swelling, or bruising, however, these effects are temporary.

What Do I Need to Physically Prepare for the Procedure?

More good news! You really don’t need to take any steps to prepare your body for Botox injections In fact, practitioners typically recommend that you avoid taking any painkillers before your appointment. Common medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, will actually increase your chances of bruising. If you are on prescription blood thinners, you may also be more susceptible to bruising as a result of the injections. Any time you undergo a medical procedure, it is imperative that you inform your doctor of any medications you may be taking.

Treatments are usually completed in under 15 minutes.

When will I see results?

Some patients see noticeable results within a few days, however it isn’t uncommon to have to wait up to fourteen days. You can expect your results to last up to four months, at which time it is recommended that you repeat the treatment.
